Drop in a picture, type a top line and a bottom line, and download the meme. The lettering is the classic heavy condensed face with a thick outline, sized as a proportion of the image so it looks right whether you started with a phone photo or a screenshot.

Your picture never leaves your device. There is no upload, no gallery, no account and no watermark. That matters more than it sounds: most meme generators are a website with a server behind them, and the photo of your colleague that you were going to caption gets stored on it. Here the image is decoded by your own browser, drawn on a canvas, and saved back to your downloads folder.

What you see in the preview is exactly what downloads — same pixels, same text positions, at up to 1600 pixels on the long edge. There is no “remove the watermark” upsell and no sign-in step before the download button works.

If the picture is the wrong shape, crop it first. If the finished file is too big to send, compress it. For something more elaborate than two lines of text, the collage maker puts several pictures together.

How to use

  1. Drop a picture on the box, click to choose one, or paste a screenshot straight from the clipboard.
  2. Type the top line, the bottom line, or just one of them — both are optional.
  3. Drag the text size slider. It is a percentage of the picture’s height, so the proportions hold whatever you started with.
  4. Adjust the outline if the text is hard to read against a busy background, and pick a colour that stands out.
  5. Download the PNG for the best quality, or the JPG if you need a smaller file to send.

Two lines
Top and bottom text in capitals with a heavy black outline — the format everybody recognises, on your own picture.
One line only
Leaving the top box empty puts a single caption along the bottom, which is what most modern memes actually do.
A long caption
Text that will not fit on one line wraps automatically and the block grows upward from the bottom, so it never runs off the edge.

Frequently asked questions

Is my picture uploaded anywhere?
No. There is no server behind this page. The image is read by your browser, drawn on a canvas on your device and saved locally. You can turn off your internet connection after the page loads and it still works — which is the honest test of the claim.
Is there a watermark?
No, and there is nothing to pay or sign in for. The file you download is the picture you made.
Why does the font look different on my machine?
Because this site ships no web fonts at all, so the lettering uses a face your device already has — Impact where it is installed, and the closest heavy condensed alternative where it is not. It is a deliberate trade: no font download means the page loads instantly and works offline.
Can I put the text in the middle instead?
Not on this page. It does the classic top and bottom bands well rather than being a general image editor badly. For free placement you want a drawing program.
What image formats can I use?
Anything your browser decodes — JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF and usually AVIF. An iPhone HEIC will not work here, because no browser decodes that format on its own — put it through our HEIC to JPG converter first, or share the photo from iOS, which converts it to JPEG on the way out.
Why is the downloaded file bigger than the original?
Because PNG is lossless and a photograph does not compress well that way. Use the JPG button instead, or run the result through the image compressor.
Does it keep my picture’s EXIF data?
No, and that is a feature. Re-drawing the image on a canvas strips everything that was attached to it, including the GPS coordinates a phone writes into a photo. The meme you share carries no location.
Can I caption a video or a GIF?
Only the first frame of a GIF, and not video at all. Both need a frame-by-frame encoder, which is a much heavier thing than this page is.
